ScaleMP Delivers Elastic Computing to the Cloud with Server Virtualization Solution.

vSMP Foundation for Cloud Enables On-Demand Virtual SMP (Symmetric MultiProcessing) A multiprocessing architecture in which multiple CPUs, residing in one cabinet, share the same memory. SMP systems provide scalability. As business increases, additional CPUs can be added to absorb the increased transaction volume.  Provisioning for Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure, Offering Greater Flexibility and ROI (Return On Investment) The monetary benefits derived from having spent money on developing or revising a system. In the IT world, there are more ways to compute ROI than Carter has liver pills (and for those of you who never heard of that expression, it means a lot).

CUPERTINO, Calif. -- ScaleMP[TM], a leading provider of virtualization An umbrella term for enhancing a computer's ability to do work. Following are the ways virtualization is used.

Hardware Virtualization
Partitioning the computer's memory into separate and isolated "virtual machines" simulates multiple machines within one physical computer.
solutions for high-end computing, today announced an addition to its vSMP Foundation product line, vSMP Foundation for Cloud. The new solution enables dynamic, on-the-fly aggregation of x86 servers into larger SMP virtual systems. Based on the award-winning vSMP Foundation product line, vSMP Foundation for Cloud enables the provisioning and re-provisioning of large virtual-machine resources within existing cloud infrastructure -- creating true cloud elasticity and drastically cutting costs.

"vSMP Foundation for Cloud provides us with unprecedented flexibility in our cloud infrastructure, which is incredibly valuable for the types of projects we are working on that often have very wide-ranging needs," said Greg Keller, principal of R Systems, Inc. "Using traditional servers or virtualization we are only able to partition our physical systems to accommodate small workloads. Now, using vSMP Foundation for Cloud, we have the flexibility to dynamically aggregate those same servers to create private on-demand virtual SMP systems for demanding applications."

"The use of virtualization for server aggregation transforms cloud infrastructure into an even more dynamic environment," said Jie Wu, research manager, technical computing at IDC. "By aggregating memory and CPUs from multiple servers in the cloud Refers to the operation taking place within a network. See cloud.  on the fly, vSMP Foundation for Cloud provides greater computing capability for users running applications requiring large memory capacity and high memory bandwidth. In addition, the solution's easy implementation is also a key benefit to the users."

vSMP Foundation for Cloud offers flexible, on-demand creation of virtual machines on a per job, per project or per customer basis. The solution eliminates the need to deploy dedicated end-of-the-aisle shared memory systems, allowing for real-time deployment of virtual large memory systems aggregated from cloud resources and redeployment re·de·ploy

Key features of vSMP Foundation for Cloud:

* On-demand provisioning and re-provisioning of SMP systems for cloud infrastructure leveraging existing provisioning infrastructure

* Seamless integration An addition of a new application, routine or device that works smoothly with the existing system. It implies that the new feature or program can be installed and used without problems. Contrast with "transparent," which implies that there is no discernible change after installation.  with systems management and provisioning tools

* Support for any programming model (serial, throughput, multi-threaded or large-memory) without machine boundary

* Aggregation of up to 16 x86 servers to create virtual SMP with up to 128 cores and 4 TB of main memory utilizing Intel's latest generation of Intel[R] Xeon[R] processor 5500 series (codenamed Nehalem)

"vSMP Foundation for Cloud enables organizations to increase utilization of their cloud and grid infrastructure," said Shai Fultheim, founder and president of ScaleMP. "Previously, organizations have been able to do so only for small workloads by partitioning their servers. Now, vSMP Foundation enables organizations to run large workloads in their cloud that previously required dedicated hardware infrastructure. This will result in increased cloud utilization, offering incredible return on investment."

Product Availability

vSMP Foundation for Cloud is currently available in beta, and will be generally available on December 1, 2009. For more information, visit www.ScaleMP.com.

About vSMP Foundation

SMP Foundation aggregates multiple industry-standard off-the-shelf x86 servers into one single virtual high-end system for the high-performance computing High-speed computing, which typically refers to supercomputers used in scientific research.  (HPC (Handheld PC) A palmtop computer that weighs less than one pound and runs specialized versions of popular applications. Microsoft coined the term for its Windows CE operating system, which is an abbreviated version of Windows. See Pocket PC. ) market. vSMP Foundation provides customers with an alternative to traditional expensive symmetrical multiprocessor (SMP) systems and also offers simplified clustering infrastructure with a single operating system operating system (OS)

Software that controls the operation of a computer, directs the input and output of data, keeps track of files, and controls the processing of computer programs.
. It supports aggregation of up to 16 servers into a single virtual SMP system, providing customers with:

* Up to 4 TB of shared memory (1) Using part of main memory to support a low-cost display circuit that does not have its own memory. See shared video memory.

(2) The common memory in a symmetric multiprocessing system that is available to all CPUs. See SMP.

* Up to 128 cores virtual SMP, proven scalability and record-breaking memory bandwidth

* Ease of use and lowest total cost of ownership (TCO (1) (Total Cost of Ownership) The cost of using a computer. It includes the cost of the hardware, software and upgrades as well as the cost of the inhouse staff and/or consultants that provide training and technical support. * Improved utilization through a centralized and consolidated architecture

About ScaleMP

ScaleMP is the leader in virtualization for high-end computing, providing maximum performance and lower total cost of ownership (TCO). The innovative Versatile SMP[TM] (vSMP) architecture aggregates multiple x86 systems into a single virtual x86 system, delivering an industry-standard, high-end symmetric multiprocessor symmetric multiprocessor - symmetric multiprocessing  (SMP) computer.
