SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 30, 1999--

Savoir Technology Group, Inc., the leading distributor of IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  midrange midrange Epidemiology The halfway point or midpoint in a set of observations; for most data, MR is calculated as the sum of the smallest observation and the largest observation, divided by 2; for age data, one is added to the numerator; a midrange is usually  server systems in the Americas, today announced the launch of e-Source, a program that enables Savoir Business Partners to streamline the process of selling IBM end-to-end e-business solutions. e-Source is a company-wide effort that includes a dedicated e-business department staffed with software and marketing experts, a complete training and certification offering in partnership with IBM and Lotus, online software support, and a comprehensive e-business solutions resource kit.

The program gives the e-business Solution Provider support at every level, from education to product information to lead generation. e-Source will assist Solution Providers in developing total e-business solutions for their clients across brands and server platforms, making the sale of e-business solutions more efficient and more profitable.

"The e-business market presents a tremendous opportunity for our Solution Providers," says Jim Teter, Savoir Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Any enterprise can utilize e-business to improve daily office functions. It's our job to help our Partners bring these solutions to their customers."

"Savoir currently holds the top position in IBM e-business software sales among midrange distributors in the U.S," Teter adds. "We are the country's leading source for IBM e-business solutions for value-added resellers A value-added reseller (VAR) is a company that adds some feature(s) to an existing product(s), then resells it (usually to end-users) as an integrated product or complete "turn-key" solution. . We plan to keep that position by providing each of our Partners with comprehensive value-added services and support. Our company is completely focused on incorporating e-business solutions into every suitable opportunity."

"Through e-source, our Business Partners will be able to benefit from the demand that IBM e-business campaigns have generated," says Lori Kneeppel, e-business Product Manager at Savoir. "We're doing this by raising awareness Raising awareness is a common phrase advocacy groups use to justify a particular event, brochure or even the entire organization. Raising awareness refers to alerting the general public that a certain issue exists and should be approached the way the group desires.  of what e-business is and how it works, by enabling our partners to deliver the solutions, and by generating end-user demand for those solutions."

Kneeppel continues, "One of our first challenges is to simplify the education and certification required of our partners. We offer the courses partners need to start selling e-business solutions right here at our headquarters."

Another feature of e-Source is BPSmall.com. This on-line shopping mall makes finding and ordering e-business software easy. Registered partners gain access to sales tools like product demo downloads, lead generation and lead management tools, and customizable marketing materials. Partners can also look to BPSmall.com staff to create total solutions that incorporate software, hardware and services.

"BPSmall.com is successful because it positively impacts our Partners' bottom line," says Charlie Harter, BPSmall.com Principal. "We increase margins on sales by managing qualified leads, offering commissions on BPSmall.com sales, and by ensuring that our Partners concentrate on proposing complete packages."

The e-Source kit is a guide containing information on virtually all aspects involved in becoming a successful e-business Solution Provider. Contents of the kit include Certification Roadmaps outlining IBM's education requirements, the e-Source Reference Guide explaining the six basic functions of e-business, Solution Matrices that spell out software capabilities and revenue opportunities, and an assortment of marketing tools to promote end-user demand generation. Also included in the kit is a CD-ROM CD-ROM: see compact disc.
