On National Tap Dance Day, Savion Glover honored 15 "responsibilitors" who support tap dance "off the wood." Beginning with Delilah Jackson, who held the first National Tap Day 17 years ago, Glover presented each with a personalized plaque--musician, presenters, teachers, videographer, shoemaker, historians, and 11-year-old Hannah Leah Dunn representing the new generation in tap. "Literary dancers" included Dance Magazine contributors Jane Goldberg, Sally Sommer, and Sali Ann Kriegsman. After dinner for 200, hosted with his mother Yvette at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Glover opened the informal ceremony with film footage of Chuck Green and closed with the great Gregory Hines.
