Advance Savi's Real-Time Monitoring and Management Capability

Savi Technology Savi Technology is a US-based company that provides real-time RFID solutions for managing and securing global supply chain assets. Mark McGlade, a veteran supply chain services executive most recently with Marconi InfoChain, was named to the new position of Vice President -- European Sales. Roderick Thorne, a leader in the development of radio frequency, microwave and cellular technology products with nearly three decades of experience, was appointed as Vice President -- Wireless Products.

Vic Verma, president and chief executive officer of Savi Technology, announced the appointments today. "Mark and Rod bring exceptional skills, knowledge and experience in their fields to these important new positions at Savi," said Verma. McGlade will focus on building Savi's commercial sales and business development programs for both global accounts and European centered customers, leveraging his direct experience in establishing Marconi InfoChain in the commercial supply chain solutions market. Thorne will play a key role in managing the development of breakthrough tracking products, which will widen and sharpen the visibility of goods, assets, inventory and transportation via the Savi SmartChain(tm) platform and its Web-enabled software applications.

Biography: Mark McGlade

Mark McGlade has 17 years of product development, marketing and sales experience. McGlade worked at Marconi North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere.  (and its predecessor company, General Electric Company plc) in the 1980s and early 1990s, and rejoined the firm in 1995. In 1997, he was instrumental in conceiving and implementing the technology and business model for the Electronic Logistic Management System (ELMS) project, which became Marconi InfoChain last year. McGlade also held the position of General Manager for Fairey Hydraulics Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of a U.K. headquartered firm. He holds a B.Sc. Biography: Rod Thorne

Rod (Roderick) Thorne has nearly 30 years of experience in the development and engineering of telecommunications, RF wireless, computing and software products. Prior to joining Savi, Thorne was at InterWave Communications, where he led the design and development of the company's GSM Wireless Micro-Base Stations, creating a radio frequency (RF) architecture used in a family of products spanning three transmission bands. Thorne has also held engineering and management positions of increasing responsibility with Hewlett-Packard, NEC (NEC Corporation, Tokyo, www.nec.com, www.necus.com) An electronics conglomerate known in the U.S. for its monitors. In Japan, it had the lion's share of the PC market until the late 1990s (see PC 98).
