NEC (NEC Corporation, Tokyo, www.nec.com, www.necus.com) An electronics conglomerate known in the U.S. for its monitors. In Japan, it had the lion's share of the PC market until the late 1990s (see PC 98).

NEC was founded in Tokyo in 1899 as Nippon Electric Company, Ltd.
 Solutions' new NEC Lamp Protect Program, a first-ever program for IHEs, provides tamp protection for up to three years from the purchase date of the projector. The cost of the program is just $295, less than the replacement cost for one lamp. The program is simple: customers send in their expired ex·pire

 tamp, and a new lamp is shipped out the next business day. To qualify, users must purchase the NEC Lamp Protect Program within 90 days from the date of projector purchase. The replacement program is valid on all of NEC's VT series projectors, including the VT47, VT470, VT570, VT670 and the VT770. The Lamp Protect Program is available through authorized au·thor·ize
