, President and Chairman of Save On Energy, Inc., has joined the Alternate Fuel Committee of the Northeast Association of State Transportation Officials (NATSO NATSO National Association of Truck Stop Operators (professional association of travel plaza and truckstop industry) ). In this role, Stiles will provide the committee with assistance in developing programs and implementation strategies for alternative fuels based on his extensive experience in the alternative fuel field.

) that requires state governments to develop programs that would encourage the use of alternative fuels in their fleet operations. The committee recognized that there are a number of barriers that have to be resolved in order for each state to successfully implement the provisions of the Epact legislation. Some of these barriers include lack of commercially available vehicles, lack of a fully developed refueling infrastructure, code compliance issues, maintenance issues and personnel training.

Stiles brings to the Alternative Fuel Committee 32 years of experience with electric and gas utilities, fleet operations, and alternate fuel technologies. His experience includes the design and construction of more than 60 compressed natural gas Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is a substitute for gasoline (petrol) or diesel fuel. It is considered to be an environmentally "clean" alternative to those fuels. It is made by compressing natural gas (which is mainly composed by methane (CH4  refueling stations for New York State Electric and Gas, Connecticut Natural Gas, Georgia-based Austell Natural Gas, the U.S. Army at Fort Gillem, Georgia and the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT NYSDOT New York State Department of Transportation ). Stiles has worked closely with Joe Darling of the NYSDOT to help develop a long-term alternate fuel vehicle implementation strategy. In addition, he has designed 30 small refueling stations that are currently used by New York State.

In addition to Stiles' operations experience, he has provided classroom training for code compliance officers, emergency response personnel, and maintenance mechanics. This targeted training has been instrumental in the successful integration of alternative fuels into a variety of fleet applications both on and off road.
