 trade mission to Italy as an opportunity to build upon his importing and exporting success.

The general manager of National Supply Centre Ltd. already maintains established clients in Europe and hopes to secure more by fostering stronger trans-Atlantic links between Sault Ste. Marie Sault Sainte Marie — pronounced "Soo Saint Marie" (IPA /su seɪnt məˈɹi/) — is the name of two cities on the Saint Marys River, which forms part of the boundary between the United States and Canada.  and Italy.

The Sault Ste. Marie construction supply company has been dealing with various Italian firms for a year and a half in distributing manufactured products across North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere.  by Italian firms Conte and Bombardieri.

Bombardieri, headquartered in Bergamo, specializes in building precision machine parts and assembles made from alloy steel forgings and used in steel rolling mills. Conte, based in Mon-tebelluna, makes material-handling equipment such as lifting devices

As well, National Supply exports raw lumber to Italian business connections to build upscale, energy efficient homes made from Canadian wood instead of their traditional bricks and mortar A store (shop, supermarket, department store, etc.) in the real world. Contrast with clicks and mortar.  construction.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie's Industrial Marketing Strategy in conjunction with the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Toronto have been the lead agencies in formalizing trade ties with northern Italy Northern Italy comprises of two areas belonging to NUTS level 1:
  • North-West (Nord-Ovest): Aosta Valley, Piedmont, Lombardy, Liguria
  • North-East (Nord-Est): Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, Emilia-Romagna
 as a means to attract investment to the city. The trade mission, which runs June 19 to 27, is targetting the Lombardy Region of northern Italy with visits to the cities of Milan, Bergamo, Brescia and Turin.

FedNor and the city's economic diversification fund each contributed $50,000 to support the business investment-marketing mission to explore possible technology transfer opportunities, joint venture partnerships or licensing arrangements with Italian businesses.

Besides National Supply, other firms who have signed on for the trip include Rector Machine Works, Green Circle Environmental, Wishart Law Firm, Clute and Associates, Pascuzzi and Berlingieri. They will be joined by Sault mayor John Rowswell John Rowswell is the current mayor of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. He was first elected in the 2000 municipal election, defeating Steve Butland, and in 2006 he was re-elected for his third term with approximately 56.5% of the vote.[1]
