Yemen, Saudi Arabia Establish Joint Operation Committee Against Houthis

The governments of Yemeni and Saudi Arabia have established a joint operating committee to combat Shiite Houthi rebels, according to the Iranian daily AL ALAM Friday. The committee is a sign of Saudi Arabia's support for Yemen's government against the Houthi Shiite rebels, who are accused of being backed by Iran. The paper cited a security source as saying that Yemeni security officials spent 48 hours in Saudi Arabia discussing the details of the committee and defining the fronts for joint operations. The Shiite Houthis have staged a military uprising in the north of the country against the Sunni Yemeni government, citing government oppression against them.
