Saturn Relay Blimp Breaks World Endurance Record.

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- The Saturn Relay The Saturn Relay is a minivan from the Saturn brand of American automaker General Motors. It was introduced for the 2005 model year, and was built alongside its sisters, the Buick Terraza, the Chevrolet Uplander, and the Pontiac Montana SV6 in Doraville, Georgia.  Lightship lightship, moored vessel bearing lights and other signal devices to guide ships and warn of hazards to navigation. Saturn knows the value of 24 hours in saving lives as well. Saturn National Donor Day, held each February, is the largest one-day donation drive in the U.S. that encourages blood, marrow and tissue donation and creates awareness of the importance of a signed and witnessed donor registration card.

"Achieving this goal is in line with the Saturn promise of putting people first," said Jill Lajdziak Jill Lajdziak (pronounced La-Jek[1]) is the General Manager of General Motors' Saturn division. In 2005, she was named one of the 100 Leading Women in the North American Auto Industry, along with 19 other GM colleagues, which made GM the most represented company on the , Saturn's general manager. "We care about innovation and excellence and are proud to have played a role in establishing this new world record while spreading the word about Saturn National Donor Day."

This demonstration of long endurance emphasizes the ability of the airships to fulfill a number of roles including persistent airborne surveillance. Counter insurgency, pipeline protection, border patrol, ports and harbor security, airborne law enforcement and protection of key facilities can greatly benefit from the ability of the airship airship, an aircraft that consists of a cigar-shaped gas bag, or envelope, filled with a lighter-than-air gas to provide lift, a propulsion system, a steering mechanism, and a gondola accommodating passengers, crew, and cargo.  to remain on station for extended periods of time. On occasion, the Saturn Lightship has assisted government agencies with security efforts.

The Saturn Relay Lightship was piloted by Carl Harbuck and Douglas McFadden of The Lightship Group of Orlando, Fla., and spent the entire flight in the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. The Lightship was manufactured by The American Blimp Corporation of Hillsboro, Ore., which has a long-term contract with the Saturn Corporation.

On board the flight was a barograph barograph, instrument used to make a continuous recording of atmospheric pressure.
