SatCon To Present Control Paper at APEC.

BOSTON -- SatCon Technology Corporation(R) (Nasdaq NM: SATC), a developer and manufacturer of power electronics and motors for the alternative energy markets, today announced that Dr. Bogdan Borowy from the Applied Technology division will present a paper titled "Pulse-By-Pulse Predictive Current Limiter" at the 2006 IEEE APEC Conference in Dallas on March 23rd. APEC, the Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, is the leading event worldwide for practicing power electronics professionals.

"Digital Control is ubiquitous in Modern Power Electronics Technology, but can be limiting in terms of system response and the ability to respond to fault conditions as the controller becomes occupied with more and more system tasks," said Millard Firebaugh, SatCon President and Chief Operating Officer. The APEC paper describes a control technique and experimental verification that was developed under a US ARMY TARDEC SBIR program. "Ruggedness and low-cost are key elements of automotive electronics", said Dr. Firebaugh, "SatCon has demonstrated through this work that detailed system knowledge and appropriate modeling can allow low cost sensors and controllers, with simple implementation to achieve accurate control and protection of the power electronics."
