Saskatchewan's women of influence: for the fourth consecutive year, Saskatchewan Business Magazine is pleased to recognize some of the province's most influential women. Though they have varied backgrounds and fields of expertise, these women wield considerable clout in their respective fields.Cheryl Bauer Hyde A certified financial planner Certified Financial Planner (CFP) A person who has passed examinations accredited by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, showing that the person is able to manage a client's banking, estate, insurance, investment, and tax affairs. She was previously a member of the Access Communications board of directors, past chair of the Financial Advisors Association of Canada (Advocis) and served as president of both SaskCulture and the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils. [ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] Myrna Bentley A high-profile member of Saskatoon's business community and the national financial scene, she is president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. of Concentra Financial (formerly Co-operative Trust of Canada), one of Canada's Top 50 Managed Companies and one of Canada's Top 100 Employers Canada's Top 100 Employers is an annual competition that recognizes the best places in Canada to work. First held in 1999, the project aims to single out the employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional working conditions and progressive human resources policies. for four consecutive years. She is a past president of CIMBL (Canadian Institute of Mortgage Brokers and Lenders). Myrna is an active community volunteer and has served a number of not-for-profit organizations. She is the campaign chair of the Western Development Museum Centenary Celebration, and a director of Women's Midlife Health Centre and the Saskatoon Community Foundation. Pam Haidenger-Bains A former chair of Saskatoon's regional economic development authority and managing partner of one of the largest law firms in the province, she now handles legal matters for Phenomenome Discoveries, an emerging biotech company in Saskatoon. She has also fulfilled a number of positions with the executive of the Saskatchewan Branch of the Canadian Bar Association The Canadian Bar Association is the Canadian voluntary bar association organization formed in 1896 representing the interests of 38,000 lawyers, judges, notaries, law teachers, and law students from across Canada involved in the legal system. including president, was a member of the National CBA See Capital Builder Account. Established in 1903, The Hill Companies is the province's most noted privately held firm with holdings throughout North America. Rosanne plays an active role in the community and sits on the board of the Regina Regional Economic Development Authority. [ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] Audrey Horkoff A Kamsack-area producer and community leader, she has earned a high profile in the province in her role as co-chair of the provincial Action Committee on the Rural Economy, or ACRE, which has produced a long list of recommendations, including some controversial suggestions, for rural revitalization. The Saskatchewan Auto Fund in Regina, she is best known for her leadership in the curling world. She currently chairs the Tim Horton Brier brier or briar, name sometimes given any thorny plant, more specifically the sweetbrier, and the greenbrier. She has sat on the boards of Regina Education and Action on Child Hunger, Youth Unlimited of Regina and was a member of the Saskatchewan Municipal Board Assessment Appeals Committee. The University is celebrating its centennial year in 2007. , this professional accountant has extensive experience as a board member including currently sitting on SaskTel's board. She chairs the SIAST First Year Business Advisory Board and is active with the North Saskatoon Business Association and Meewasin Valley Authority The Meewasin Valley Authority is a conservation organization created by the Provincial Government of Saskatchewan in Canada and is responsible for the preservation of the South Saskatchewan River Valley. The authorities activities include education, development and conservation. .
