Fortunately, it's a good one, even when it's not hers--as is the case for all but one track of her first Christmas album. For Wintersong, McLachlan has put her predictably lush lite-pop spin on yuletide standards and classics like "Silent Night" and "O Little Town of Bethlehem O Little Town of Bethlehem traditional Christmas carol. Despite the occasional misstep into airy, snooze-inducing territory, as on "I'll Be Home for Christmas," she's remarkably adept at making typical holiday fare sound fresh.
