Sapient Canada was selected from more than 2,000 companies that were reviewed as part of this year's competition. According to MediaCorp, Sapient's reasons for selection include:

* Industry-leading maternity and adoptive leave "top-up" payments for new parents of up to 100% for 17 weeks

* Four weeks paid vacation after only three years on the job

* Its corporate citizenship efforts, which include completely redesigning the website for the Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research The Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research is a Canadian charitable foundation whose goal is to raise awareness of AIDS/HIV to increase funds for research. CANFAR is currently the only such organization in Canada. The foundation was created in 1987 by Bluma Appel. , free of charge

Organizations are evaluated by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers using eight criteria: (1) Physical Workplace; (2) Work Atmosphere & Social; (3) Health, Financial & Family Benefits; (4) Vacation & Time Off; (5) Employee Communications; (6) Performance Management; (7) Training & Skills Development; and (8) Community Involvement. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offers the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.
