Sanko Junyaku Patents Its Proprietary Gene Amplification Method PALSAR in EU.Tokyo, Japan, Sept 12, 2005 - (JCNN) - Sanko Junyaku announced on September 12 that its proprietary gene amplification method was officially patented in the EU as of September 7. Numbered 1002877 in the Patent Gazette, the patented method named Probe Alternation Link Self-Assembly Reaction (PALSAR), uses two DNA probes that cover three complementary areas to amplify genetic signals by repeating hybridization hybridization /hy·brid·iza·tion/ (hi?brid-i-za´shun) 1. crossbreeding; the act or process of producing hybrids. 2. molecular hybridization 3. . No nucleic-acid synthesizing enzyme is needed for hybridization. The PALSAR method can react in a short time (30 seconds to 30 minutes) at a constant temperature (40 to 70 degrees centigrade). It can detect targeted DNA DNA: see nucleic acid. DNA or deoxyribonucleic acid One of two types of nucleic acid (the other is RNA); a complex organic compound found in all living cells and many viruses. It is the chemical substance of genes. and RNA RNA: see nucleic acid. RNA in full ribonucleic acid One of the two main types of nucleic acid (the other being DNA), which functions in cellular protein synthesis in all living cells and replaces DNA as the carrier of genetic highly accurately. The method is expected to be used in a wide range of applications including medicine, food, environment, agriculture and stockbreeding stock·breed·ing n. Currently, Sanko Junyaku's subsidiary Palma Palma or Palma de Mallorca (päl`mä thā mälyôr`kä), city (1990 pop. 325,120), capital of Majorca island and of Baleares prov., Spain, on the Bay of Palma. Bee'Z Research Institute is working on research on PALSAR with a view to commercializing diagnostic agents for infectious diseases.
