New patents applied for covering the production and application of

preparations for the natural regeneration of the skin in the case of lack of oxygen, including hemoglobin or a hemoglobin/myoglobin mixture

Sangui BioTech International Inc. (OTCBB:SGBI)(SBH:GR (Bloomberg), SGBI.D (Reuters)) reported today that the wholly-owned subsidiary SanguiBioTech AG, Witten, Germany, has submitted two new patent applications to the German Patent Office, Munich. These comprise the production and application of external preparations with various basic agents, such as hydrogel or as an emulsion which contain as oxygen carrier the red blood stain hemoglobin or a mixture of hemoglobin and myoglobin.

The healthy skin is supplied with oxygen, both through the supply from inside and also through diffusion from outside, in which connection the proportion of the supply of the exterior cell layers of the upper skin, the so-called Stratum germinativum, located directly beneath the Stratum corneum, is normally around 50 percent. Lack of oxygen of the skin will cause degenerative alterations of various extent, ranging from surface damage to open wounds. The cause for the lack of oxygen may be the normal aging process, but also burns or radiation. Impairment of the blood flow, for example caused by diabetes mellitus, can also lead to insufficient oxygen supply and resulting skin damage.

The new preparations of the SanguiBioTech AG company have been designed to contribute to supporting the regeneration of the skin in the case of lack of oxygen. In addition to the therapy, these preparations are also intended for purposes of prevention, among others for the improved oxygen supply of the skin in the course of a radiation therapy, or in the case of an acne treatment.

The basic idea of the mode of effectiveness consists of the mechanism of the facilitated oxygen diffusion. The oxygen carriers are intended to increase the diffuse flow of oxygen from outside, when having been worked into the exterior cell layers.

The preparations containing oxygen carriers have been designed to be used also in cosmetics, on account of their natural coloring properties. In this way it might be possible to achieve several complexions. "The cosmetic effect cannot be separated from the medical effect.
