Sanga International Inc. announced today that its Sanga Enterprise Solutions -- a suite of customized, component-based Java(tm) applications -- has been certified by Sun Microsystems as a 100% Pure Java product. This certification, which is given out only to vendors whose products have passed Key Labs' (an independent testing laboratory) stringent testing, signifies to customers that Sanga's solutions are fully portable Java applications.

Unlike competitive programming systems that tie developers to a single platform, Java unites many platforms with a common language, opening up new markets and new opportunities. To achieve the inherent cross-platform benefits of Java technology, developers, customers and end users need assurance that programs written in Java are portable. Sun has created the 100% Pure Java Initiative to provide this assurance.

According to its 1996 study, Gartner Group estimated that client administration can exceed 50 percent of IT spending. Organizations today are committed to and deploying Java applications. For example, Ontario Colleges Application Service (OCAS) is deploying a Sanga Enterprise Solution in the Governmental Sector, called the Education Client Information System (CIS). This application will service 25 colleges across Ontario and allow students online access to application services. The Sanga CIS will service approximately 17,000 staff and 250,000 full-time students.

OCAS originally intended to buy Java tools and build applications in-house, but a lack of available Java tools and in-house resource limitations led them to Sanga.
