Sandusky celebrates its centennial.

SANDUSKY CELEBRATES ITS CENTENNIAL. Sandusky International, Sandusky, Ohio, USA, is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2004, and is using the occasion to market its new capabilities as a fully integrated solution provider and manufacturer for the global paper industry. Once known primarily for its suction rolls, Sandusky is also focusing on the design of customized solutions to improve the efficiency of paper machines using Sandusky components.

The company said its engineers began installing a new triple fourdrinier wet end at a New Zealand boxboard paper mil in April. Simultaneously on the other side of the world, a paper machine, rebuilt with Sandusky engineered components, went back into production and achieved a new speed record within days. That is a long way from the days when company founder William Millspaugh invented the world's first "suction" roll, a product that greatly increased the amount of water removed from stock in a single step. The introduction of this innovative component enabled paper machines to dramatically increase speed and efficiency, propelling the whole industry forward.
