Sandstorm Makes PhoneSweep Manual Available on the Web; a Resource for Recognizing and Responding to 'Rogue Modem' Threats.

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 30, 2001

Sandstorm Enterprises has followed up its recent release of version 3.0 of its popular PhoneSweep(TM) telephone network scanner by making the PhoneSweep manual available on the Web.

Introduced in October 1998, PhoneSweep is the world's most widely-used commercial telephone scanner. The availability of documentation and support and regular product upgrades has also been useful in persuading users of "hacker" tools like ToneLoc and THC THC tetrahydrocannabinol.

The 155-page manual, which can be viewed at http://www.sandstorm sandstorm, strong dry wind blowing over the desert that raises and carries along clouds of sand or dust often so dense as to obscure the sun and reduce visibility almost to zero; also known as a duststorm. .net/support/PSmanual/psmanual.shtml details the "hows" and "whys" of telephone scanning as a means to uncover the vulnerabilities posed by undocumented or unauthorized dial-up modems in the corporate or government infrastructure. "One million dollars in firewalls and security can be defeated by one cheap modem," said Sandstorm Chief Technology Officer Simson Garfinkel. And those cheap modems are all too regularly encountered: left behind by Y2K See Y2K problem and Y2K compliant.

Adds Garfinkel, "Collectively, we and our customers have more wardialing experience than all others combined. The manual represents hundreds of man-years of experience, distilled down. This is the definitive collection of information on wardialing."

PhoneSweep runs under Windows 95, 98, 2000 and NT4.0. PhoneSweep manages calling information and results in an industry-standard SQL SQL
