Sanders receives $56 million contract to produce Navy Combat DF systems.


NASHUA, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 12, 1997--Sanders, a Lockheed Martin For the former company, see .

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) is a leading multinational aerospace manufacturer and advanced technology company formed in 1995 by the merger of Lockheed Corporation with Martin Marietta.
 Company, has received a $56 million contract from the department of the Navy for continued production of AN/SRS-1A Combat Direction Finding (Combat DF) systems for installation on a variety of U.S. Navy ships.

Under the contract, Sanders will provide seven complete systems, consisting of distributed deck-edge and mast-mounted antenna arrays Antenna array may refer to:
  • an interferometric array of Radio telescopes used in radio astronomy.
  • a Phased array, an electronically steerable directional antenna typically used in RADAR.
 and equipment racks, and three upgrade field kits for deliveries over the next two years. The contract also includes options for 16 additional systems to be delivered through 2002, for a total value of $125 million. Since production began in 1986, Sanders has produced and delivered 22 Combat DF systems to the Navy.
