Sanders Establishes Information Dominance Business Area.

NASHUA, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 3, 1998--Sanders, A Lockheed Martin Company has established a new Information Dominance Systems business area, integrating the company's work and expertise in the areas of intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, information warfare, mission management and communications systems.

Headed by Wesley West, Vice President and General Manager, the business area will include products that permit military forces to locate and identify potential adversaries, protect information assets, attack an adversary's information infrastructure and integrate modern digital battlefield communications.

According to West, "Information superiority is the primary requirement of the modern digital battlefield, and our products will provide military forces with secure, reliable situational awareness. The right information at the right place at the right time will enable the commander to dominate the battle space."

The new Sanders organization encompasses current Department of Defense surveillance and reconnaissance programs such as the Cooperative Outboard Logistics Upgrade (COBLU) shipboard surveillance program, the TACJAM-A battlefield electronic support measures program, the U.S. Air Force's Compass Call Airborne Countermeasures program and U.S. Navy's Combat Direction Finding systems. The business area also includes Sanders' Joint SIGINT Avionics Family low-band airborne reconnaissance subsystem contract work for the U.S. Air Force. Sanders will incorporate its Mission Management and Communications businesses in the new unit, including the Air Force Mission Support System (AFMSS) and the Airborne Communications Node program being developed for DARPA.
