San diego. (California).

There's exciting news in downtown San Diego: The convention center expansion is complete, and ready to accommodate new and existing business with twice as much space. Today's bigger, better facility features 2.6 million square feet of meeting and exhibit space, including 40 new meeting rooms, and more than 170,000 square feet of public and pre-function area.

To complement the enhanced convention center, Hyatt Regency San Diego began construction on a 33-story, 750-room tower that will offer an additional 86,000 square feet of meeting space adjoining the existing 40-story, 875-room hotel. To be renamed the Manchester Grand Hyatt, the finished property will offer more than 120,000 square feet of meeting space when it opens in summer 2003.

Smaller groups can get excited about The Lodge at Torrey Pines, a new resort set to open this spring. Located on the 18th green of the world-renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course, the property will feature 175 guest rooms; a 9,500-square-foot, full-service spa; and more than 13,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space. And thanks to San Diego's perfect year-round weather, planners can get creative with the Lodge's spacious grounds.
