The Installation of Officers and Scholarship Awards Banquet was held June 22 at the Radisson Hotel in Stockton, California. LTG Wykle, President, NDTA, officiated the ceremony installing new President Terri Dalton, DDJC. Thanks was given to Janet Rollandi, Pilot Air Freight, outgoing Chapter President. President Wykle spoke on the objectives of NDTA, current issues in the Transportation arena, and gave an overview of the upcoming Forum. He presented chapter awards to Terri Dalton, DDJC, as Woman of the Year; Ron Stewart, Aeronet, as Man of the Year; and Nancy Houghton, Green Valley Transportation, Chapter Service Award for her endless contributions to maintaining the scholarship program. The evening highlight was the presentation of fourteen scholarships, totaling $19,000--second only to the National Awards amount! Scholarships included Memorial, NDTA affiliation, military affiliation, and transportation related. Additionally, four vocational scholarships were awarded to encourage and support the transportation infrastructure. San Joaquin Valley Chapter does its fundraising for the scholarship program through two annual golf tournaments, a Green Valley Transportation/NDTA BBQ/Open House fundraiser, Yellow Transportation--sponsored Membership Night, and carrier-sponsored dinners, events, and donations throughout the year. It is the generous support and participation of the Chapter membership that makes the scholarship fund so successful. HOOAH to San Joaquin Valley carriers and members for another successful year!
