The banquet will benefit the California State Summer School for Mathematics & Science (COSMOS), designed and administered by the University of California for high school students who excel in those disciplines. "Nobel Laureates could be no finer role models for COSMOS students to emulate," remarked Gayle Wilson, who will attend with her husband, Pete Wilson. The former First Lady of California, who has been instrumental in the development and planning of the California Nobel Centennial, has a science background and helped marshal legislation to create COSMOS. The centennial celebration will establish the California Nobel Prize Centennial Legacy Scholarship fund for students enrolled in COSMOS.
