San Diego is a "Mighty" Fine Destination for British Prize Winners.


Seventy-seven lucky sweepstakes winners from all parts of the British Isles British Isles: see Great Britain; Ireland. , including a prospective bride and groom, arrived in San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay.  November 9 for a week-long all expenses-paid family vacation.

The families won their free trips through a series of sweepstakes held earlier this year in the United Kingdom promoting the release of the Disney film, Mighty Joe Young.

According to Georgeanne Wood, ConVis director of marketing promotions, a total of 20 radio, television, magazine and newspaper promotions ran in cities throughout England and Scotland. Many of the families said they learned about the contest promotion through television and radio ads.

Wood estimates the media value to San Diego from this promotion amounts to more than $300,000.

The sweepstakes winners were lodged at the historic Inn Suites Hotels San Diego Balboa Park Resort during their stay. Also, as part of their vacation package, each family received a complimentary Alamo Alamo
