The multi-million dollar contract is for the purchase and supply of Mincom Ellipse ellipse, closed plane curve consisting of all points for which the sum of the distances between a point on the curve and two fixed points (foci) is the same. MTDB's Director of Finance and Administration, Renee Wasmund, says she is confident these purchases will increase the operating efficiencies of the two subsidiaries, optimize grant visibility and utilization, and improve customer service for all transit riders in the San Diego area.

"Mincom Ellipse will provide us with real-time visibility of key performance indicators Key Performance Indicators (KPI) are financial and non-financial metrics used to quantify objectives to reflect strategic performance of an organization. Samuel Johnson, Director of Information Technology for MTDB, also believes Mincom Ellipse will bring benefits to both subsidiaries. "Continuous support and re-development of interfaces have historically created significant ongoing costs, impacting our data integrity and accessibility. All back-office business functions are fully integrated in Mincom Ellipse without the use of interfaces. This eliminates many of the day-to-day challenges that organizations with limited IT resources face," he said.

Johnson believes that because Mincom Ellipse is fully integrated and can be fully Web deployed, it will reduce ongoing support requirements and decrease the cost of running back-office business systems while improving responsiveness to departmental users.

"Long term, MTDB looks forward to establishing a strong strategic relationship with a single vendor who offers a single integrated business application and common technologies that will remain fully integrated," he said.

Mincom's President of North America, Rick Rogers, believes Mincom's strong transit focus in the region helped secure the deal. "Mincom has an excellent track record in the transit sector. We are committed to our customers' success, and our industry-specific solutions help eliminate departmental silos and align organizational performance with overall agency strategic objectives, making it an ideal solution for the transit sector.

"We have been successful in implementing our solutions and creating long-term business partnerships. We recently completed two such implementations with Long Beach Transit Long Beach Transit is a municipal transit company providing fixed and flexible bus transit services in Long Beach, California, United States, other communities in South and Southeast Los Angeles County and Northwestern Orange Counties.  in California and Transit Authority of River City in Louisville, Kentucky," he said.
