She joined the college as an adjunct professor in 1998 and was named chair of Music and Humanities Department in 2002. She is the former vice-chair and was elected chair of the San Antonio College Faculty Senate. Howard is a member of Leadership San Antonio and college liaison officer for the Community College Humanities Association. She holds a Ph.D. in Performance Studies from New York University New York University, mainly in New York City; coeducational; chartered 1831, opened 1832 as the Univ. of the City of New York, renamed 1896. It comprises 13 schools and colleges, maintaining 4 main centers (including the Medical Center) in the city, as well as the and, from Rice University, master's and bachelor's degrees in music theory, as well as a bachelor of arts in English.
