Samsung Joins Leadership of HomePlug Powerline Alliance; Alliance Adds More Depth to Consumer Electronics Expertise.SAN RAMON, Calif. -- Driving the worldwide acceptance of high-speed networking over power lines, the HomePlug(R) Powerline Alliance today announced that Samsung has joined its Implementers' Forum Board of Directors. Samsung is expected to significantly contribute to HomePlug's efforts to simplify the "consumer experience" as it relates to networking, multi-media and rich content distribution within the evolving digital home. A leader in communications, entertainment and electronic components, Samsung's addition to the Alliance's leadership is expected to have a vast impact on the advancement of home entertainment and networking as it pertains to HomePlug products and technology. As a member of the Implementers' Forum Board of Directors, Samsung will play a significant role in further shaping and proliferating HomePlug standards, products and initiatives. The HomePlug Alliance has several focus areas: HomePlug 1.0 + AV (in-home connectivity, including digital home and consumer electronics applications); HomePlug BPL (to-the-home, Broadband-over-power line applications); and HomePlug Home Automation (command-and-control applications). Samsung's industry efforts intersect and complement each of these areas.
