"Consumers are clamoring for larger-sized screens and high-definition television, but finding that color accuracy and multi-angle viewing also are extremely important, particularly with larger screen sizes," said Joe Virginia, Vice President, Samsung LCD Business. "We're ramping up our industry leading display technology for a wide range of large-screen panels, technology that beautifully compliments high definition viewing in catering to the most discerning viewers."

Providing a contrast ratio of 1200:1, Samsung's patented S-PVA technology delivers 40-60 percent better contrast than the best television panels available today, making the viewing picture appear sharper and exceptionally realistic.  imagery that conveys a higher degree of realism than that possible with alternative displays.

The S-PVA technology also presents a superior rendition of the color black in the display -- a truer black than the bluish blacks and darker grays commonly seen today.

Further, the angle at which a TV screen can be viewed without any distortion of image or color has been increased from a typical 90-135 degrees to nearly 180 degrees with minimal off-axis color shift, so when a TV viewer moves to the side, screen colors remains fixed.

The S-PVA technology, introduced in North America with 32-inch, 40-inch and 46-inch screen sizes during the second half of 2005, is available through a wide range of North American North American

Those trade shows include the DisplaySearch Conference in San Diego last month and the Society for Information Display (SID) International Symposium, Seminar and Exhibition in San Francisco June 5-9.
