Samsung's F1 drives employ a host of proprietary technologies to achieve best-in-class low power consumption, and best-in-class performance that sets a new standard for large capacity drives. Whisper-quiet operation is ensured via Samsung's award-winning NoiseGuard[TM] and SilentSeek[TM] technologies, which reduce overall noise and vibration emanating from the drive. The optimized electronics and power saving modes reduce power consumption and resulting heat dissipation, making the F1 the coolest operating 1TB drive on the market. "The new F1 Series is Samsung's largest capacity hard drive to date and features the worlds highest recording density in a 3.5" hard drive with three disks. The F1 Series is a prime example of Samsung's massive engineering resources and technological expertise," states Andy Higginbotham, Director of Hard Drive Sales and Marketing, Samsung Semiconductor. "With its one terabyte capacity, best-in-class low power consumption, and best-in-class performance, Samsung's F1 Series offers an optimized, universal storage solution that meets computing and consumer electronics needs from single drive configurations to configurations of thousands of drives installed in enterprise applications."

The F1 Series drive features a 334GB per-platter capacity, a 7200RPM spin speed, a 32MB cache, and up to a 1.2 million hour MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) The average time a component works without failure. It is the number of failures divided by the hours under observation.
