The Benefit will be held at The New 42nd Street Studios, 229 West 42nd Street, 5th floor, on Tuesday, May 8, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Salvadori Center, founded by the late eminent engineer and university professor Dr. Mario Salvadori Mario Salvadori (1907-1997) was an architect, structural engineer and professor of both civil engineering and architecture at Columbia University. During World War II he was a consultant on the Manhattan Project. He was born in Rome, Italy in 1907. , imparts the excitement and understanding of mathematics, science and the humanities to youngsters while stimulating their curiosity about their neighborhoods and city. Using compelling activities involving towers, tunnels and bridges as a context for learning, specially trained Salvadori Center architects & engineers help teachers integrate topics relevant to students' lives into their teaching. Since 1987, more than 150,000 New York City youngsters have been reached - taught to become more successful students and engaged citizens. Four students will also be honored at the benefit with the award of college scholarships.
