Saline County Now Accepts Credit Cards for Over-the-Counter Personal Property Tax Payments.LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Saline County Saline County is the name of several counties in the United States:
This service is provided via an over-the-counter payment processor that was designed by the Information Network of Arkansas. Citizens can swipe their MasterCard or Visa credit cards at a clerk's station, and payments are processed through the state of Arkansas' secure payment engine. With the new solution, the county can also view payments through a streamlined reporting system in order to reconcile with their backend accounting system. "My desire is to maintain a government office that is cutting-edge, one that is on par with businesses in the private sector in both convenience and efficiency," said Saline County Tax Collector Chris Villines. "This system accomplishes these needs. It is rather simple from a customer's standpoint. They want the same services out of their government that they get when shopping. This addresses this need and handles it superbly." The over-the-counter payment solution is provided at no upfront cost to Saline County and includes the first credit card swipe terminal for free. To offer a similar service, other Arkansas counties only need a personal computer, Internet Explorer Microsoft's Web browser, which comes with Windows starting with Windows 98.
