Safeco program scores with agents, community. (Marketplace: Property/Casualty).


Already famous for sponsoring the Seattle Mariners' ballpark, Safeco is also in the second year of a national initiative with its independent agents to bring electronic scoreboards to youth baseball fields. The $1 million PlayBall program installed 32 scoreboards in 2002 and expects to donate an additional 30 this year. Based on first-year feedback, the scoreboards help form the foundation for an ongoing partnership between independent agents and schools and youth groups in their communities.
