Safe latex technology.A second U.S. patent has been issued for Vytex technology, used to produce Vytex safe latex latex, emulsion of a polymer (e.g., rubber) in water (see colloid). Natural latexes are produced by a number of plants, are usually white in color, and often contain, in addition to rubber, various gums, oils, and waxes. . The patent covers the Vytex proprietary process for decreasing the allergenicity of natural rubber latex prior to vulcanization vulcanization (vŭl'kənəzā`shən), treatment of rubber to give it certain qualities, e.g., strength, elasticity, and resistance to solvents, and to render it impervious to moderate heat and cold. . Examiners from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office allowed all 13 claims submitted in the application. The original Vytex patent was issued in June June: see month. 2005. The new patent is the result of the company's filing for additional continuation-in-part protection. Vytex natural rubber latex is produced through a proprietary process that deactivates antigenic antigenic /an·ti·gen·ic/ (an-ti-jen´ik) having the properties of an antigen. antigenic having the properties of an antigen. proteins in latex, making it safe for use by most people who are allergenic-protein sensitive. Ongoing test results are said to consistently show that the Vytex technology reduces antigenic proteins to levels considered undetectable by the most widely used standard tests.
