SYS Announces New SYS Division Focusing on Homeland Security; Business to Be Led by Pericles Halifteras.

SAN DIEGO -- -SYS Technologies, (AMEX:SYS), a leading provider of real time information technology solutions to industrial and U.S. government customers, announced today that it has launched a new division to address the growing SYS business base in public safety and security systems.

The acquisition of Polexis, Antin, and Xsilogy has significantly enhanced SYS' existing capabilities and contracts in these areas. The new Public Safety and Security Division will address homeland security and business security issues at the federal, state, and local level. The division will draw on technical resources in other SYS divisions to effect timely and reliable solutions to meet the command and response needs of fire and law enforcement agencies in a crises environment. The scope of this effort involves the application of existing SYS sensor technology, wireless sensor networking, the application of service oriented internet architectures, information visualization, and decision support technologies.

Pericles Haleftiras, a veteran of over 25 years in software development and systems integration in the information technology business arena, will lead this new division. His experience includes software development and engineering services targeting real-time distributed component software development, Web application infrastructure, internet technologies, and enterprise software platforms for a broad mix of military and commercial customers. From 1985 to 1999, he was President and founder of Structured Technology Corporation which was acquired by NECSAS Corporation in 1999. Mr. Halifteras joined SYS through the Antin Engineering acquisition, which was completed in January, 2005. Before joining the company, Mr. Haleftiras was the Chief Technology Officer of General Magic, Inc. which played a key role in the development of the ONSTAR(TM) automotive navigation system. The company was subsequently acquired by GM.

At SYS, Haleftiras has served as the architect for projects focused on identifying and developing composable, service-oriented solutions for implementation in network-centric applications for the US Navy and Homeland Security.
