 SYNERGEN APPOINTS DIRECTOR OF QUALITY
 BOULDER, Colo., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Synergen Inc.


(NASDAQ: SYGN) announced today the appointment of Christine C. Booker as director, quality assurance. In this newly created position, Booker will direct the company's efforts to assure that Synergen biopharmaceutical products are of the highest quality, and manufactured in compliance with worldwide current Good Manufacturing Practices.
 "Chris brings to Synergen the experience we need now to prepare for regulatory reviews and inspections in the coming years," stated William D. Fairbairn, vice president, regulatory affairs and compliance. "In addition, under her direction, the quality team will put the quality systems in place to accommodate the expansion of manufacturing to support our clinical trial programs."
 Booker joined Synergen after 11 years at Genentech, where she established the first QA/QC programs as manager of quality. Most recently, she was associate director of safety evaluation. Booker began her career as an analytical chemist and worked in quality positions at a number of research laboratories including Zenith Radio Corp., Coulter Electronics, IMS and McGaw Laboratories.
 Synergen is a biopharmaceutical company engaged in the discovery, development and manufacture of protein based pharmaceuticals. The company's research is targeted towards products to treat inflammatory diseases, chronic ulcers and neurological diseases. Synergen's lead product, ANTRIL(TM), is in clinical testing for seven indications including sepsis syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis and graft vs. host disease.
