The landscaped entryway piece will be erected on a concrete island in the intersection where Lankershim and Burbank boulevards meet Tujunga Avenue. Designed by North Hollywood artist Stephen Schubert, the sculpture is being funded by the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. The project was approved by the city Cultural Affairs Department and is endorsed by City Councilman Joel Wachs Joel Wachs served for several terms as Los Angeles City Councilman for the 2nd district. He was first elected by defeating incumbent James B. Potter. While in office, Wachs chaired the Public Works Committee and vice-chair of the Environmental Quality & Waste Management , who represents the district and is an avid art aficionado A Spanish word that means fan, devotee, enthusiast, etc. There are loyal aficionados of every subject in the computer field. . But not all in the community are pleased with the project. Glenn Hoiby, chairman of the redevelopment district's Project Area Committee, said the advisory board was left out of the process. Members would have preferred that the design be chosen after a competition among local college students, he said.
