 SYMANTEC OFFERS ASSISTANCE TO HURRICANE VICTIMS
 CUPERTINO, Calif., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to the


widespread destruction of homes and property caused by Hurricane Andrew and Hurricane Iniki, Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC) today announced that it is offering free replacement of Symantec software destroyed or damaged as a result of the storms to all registered users. In the affected areas of Hawaii, Florida and Louisiana, registered users are eligible to receive free replacement of their Symantec software and all users will be offered a 50 percent discount on any Symantec title. This offer is good through Nov. 30, 1992.
 In addition, Symantec has established an employee contribution matching program to help hurricane victims. Through this program, any employee contributions to the Red Cross or the Salvation Army will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Symantec.
 "Our customers will need time and assistance to recover from the effects of these hurricanes," said John C. Laing, Symantec's executive vice president of worldwide sales. "Symantec has built its business on serving the needs of its customers. This is one way we can show our appreciation for their loyalty."
