Certus develops and markets NOVI, an award-winning antivirus product that prevents, detects and repairs PC viruses; and Certus, a comprehensive PC systems security product that prevents viruses, enhances network security and prevents the use of unauthorized software. Certus LAN allows network-wide software standardization and version control and extends system fault tolerance to local workstations.

 New Products Announced
During the December 1992 quarter, Symantec announced several new products and enhancements that reinforce Symantec's commitment to develop cross-platform solutions. These include The Norton Commander for OS/2 version 1.0, The Norton Essentials for PowerBook version 1.0, Symantec AntiVirus for Macintosh version 3.5, Zortech C++ version 3.1 for DOS and Windows 3.1, Zortech C++ version 3.1 for OS/2.0, and Guide Line and Guide Line Maker versions 1.0 (for DOS and Windows).
The Norton Commander for OS/2 version 1.0, the industry's first third-party file management utility software for OS/2, was announced on Dec. 7, 1992. The Norton Commander streamlines and simplifies file management, offers powerful file finding capabilities and provides network menuing support for corporate customers.
Also announced on Dec. 7, 1992, was The Norton Essentials for PowerBook version 1.0, a comprehensive collection of Macintosh PowerBook utilities. The Norton Essentials for PowerBook can increase battery life of PowerBooks to 4 hours or more, automatically updates and synchronizes files between PowerBooks and other Macintosh computers, and enhances the overall usability of PowerBooks.

On Dec. 14, 1992, Symantec announced two new versions of the Zortech C++ compiler: Zortech C++ version 3.1 for DOS and Windows 3.1, and Zortech C++ version 3.1 for OS/2 2.0. Both new products are fully compliant with AT&T CFRONT C++ version 3.0 and ANSI C, and offer full 32-bit and advanced numerics support. AT&T compliance is important to programmers because it gives support for pre-compiled headers and templates, thereby saving compilation time and increasing code reusability.
At the end of the quarter Symantec shipped Guide Line and Guide Line Maker, two new project management products that make using project management software easier. Guide Line automatically builds project schedules based on simple user input. These schedules work with any of Symantec's desktop project management packages, Time Line for Windows, Time Line 5.0 (DOS) and On Target, as well as Microsoft Project for Windows. Guide Line Maker is an authoring system that lets users build their own project management guides, either from scratch or by importing previously created project schedules.
