SYLMAR FOOTBALL COACH RETIRES 'TIME IS RIGHT' FOR ENGILMAN AFTER 205 WINS.

Jeff Engilman, one of three active area football coaches with 200 victories, retired from coaching at Sylmar High on Wednesday after 24 years.

Known for his hard-nosed, old-school approach, Engilman led Sylmar to City championships in 1992 and 1994, as well as two lower-bracket titles. He coached 17 years at Sylmar, six at Manual Arts of Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  and one at Cleveland of Reseda.

``It's about knowing when the time is right,'' said Engilman, 53, who will stay at Sylmar as a physical education teacher. ``I've thought about it since the beginning of the year, when I wasn't willing to watch game film for as many hours as I had in the past.''
