The SimCon System provides a common data model for a variety of battlefield simulation programs. SimCon provides an integrated data fusion framework which unions, standardizes and distributes data to multiple military simulations.

The SimCon System integrates a suite of military simulations using a pair of custom applications that present the user with a centralized interface to enter parametric and scenario data that is stored in Objectivity/DB. The SimCon Graphical User Interface (GUI) provides the user with a visual representation of the data stored in the Objectivity/DB database. The objects stored in Objectivity/DB directly represent the military systems and the many file types used to drive a Distributed Interactive Simulations (DIS) environment. SimCon also includes a Master Model Controller (MMC). This is a 3-D visual presentation and scenario development tool that provides users with the ability to perform situational awareness; tactical execution, test and integration assessments, operational overviews and simulation scenario lay down.

Objectivity/DB was selected by the SYColeman Corporation because of the need to manage complex and dynamic data which is unmanageable by the conventional table spaces of relational databases. Additionally, Objectivity/DB provides flexibility and scalability and minimizes the administrative details of designing and maintaining the database. This dramatically reduces the costs and development time required by other database platforms.
