LONG BEACH -- If it is true that blondes have more fun, then Saturday might have been the most enjoyable day in the careers of several of the area's top swimmers.

Whether the color was platinum, bleached or dirty, the results were the same for the Oaks Christian of Westlake Village boys and La Reina La Reina (Spanish: "The queen") is a commune of Chile located in Santiago Province, Santiago Metropolitan Region. As for Oaks Christian, after capturing back-to- back Div. IV championships, the Lions made it a three-peat with a record-setting effort in Div. III, breaking Murrieta Valley's 2004scoring mark by 46 points to beat runner-up Torrance (170) with 419.

"How they came together and swam tough and responded to challenges, that's why they're champions," said Oaks Christian coach Dave Moore Dave Moore is an English name which may refer to:

  • Dave Moore (American football player) (1969- ), American long snapper/tight end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
, whose team won nine of 11 events, including breaking a 15-year-old record in the 400 free relay (3:07.62).

"It's the leadership of Mikey Blanchard. He's the one that got these guys together and got them refocused. I laid it down for them and put the ball in their court and they took care of it. I couldn't be more proud."

La Reina took pride in its fourth straight top-two finish.

Bibb also increased her career total to seven individual titles, winning the 100 free (50.87) and 200 free, breaking the longest-standing record in the division to triumph in 1:47.48.

"It has to come down some time, so 2007 might as well be the year," said Bibb upon shattering the 1980 mark of California of Whittier's Lynda White (1:48.51). "It was my last 200 in CIF (1) (Common Intermediate Format) A standard video format used in videoconferencing. CIF formats are defined by their resolution, and standards both above and below the original resolution have been established. The original CIF is also known as Full CIF (FCIF). , so I wanted to make it a good one. Since I didn't break the Div. IV record, I'm really happy to break the Div. III record."

While Bibb won going away, Nolan Koon produced the two most thrilling victories for Oaks Christian, coming from behind to edge Corona's Kyle Smith (1:52.12) in the 200 individual medley med·ley

(1:51.80) and touching out ahead of Torrance's See Han Lee 58.34 to 58.41 in the 100 breaststroke.

"(The 200 IM) was easily one of the top three races of my life, if not No. 1. The race was enough, but winning made it even better," Koon said. "(In the 100 breaststroke) I saw him out of the corner of my eye and I said 'Oh no.' It came down to the last stroke in that race. It was insane."

Kevin Nielsen extended his run to 12races without a loss in Southern Section finals competition, winning the 100 butterfly (49.63) and 100 backstroke (51.47), along with competing on the 200 medley (1:35.31) and 400 free relays.

Oaks Christian's Allison Hall was second in the girls' 100 butterfly (57.34) and third in the 200 individual medley (2:08.42), and Laura DeCesare placed second in the 100breaststroke (1:08.25) and fourth in the 200 IM (2:08.64).
