SWIMMERS PREPARE FOR SENIOR NATIONALS.

The Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  will be well represented this weekend at two premier swim meets in Orange County, and the list is much deeper than just Saugus High standout John Criste at the Senior National Championships.

Criste, competing for Canyons Aquatic Club, boasts the fastest entry time of any area athlete at the Senior Nationals, which runs through Sunday at the William Woollett William Woollett (August 15, 1735 - May 23, 1785), English engraver, was born at Maidstone, of a family which came originally from the Netherlands.

He was apprenticed to John Tinney, an engraver in Fleet Street, London, and studied in the St Martin's Lane academy.

In addition to Criste, who competes in the 200-meter breaststroke today and the 100 Saturday, Canyons teammates Lisa Andrade, Tyler Clark, Matt Jensen and Gabe Woodward are all entered in at least one individual event.

, a Hart graduate who is entering his senior year at the U.S. Naval Academy, is a Canyons alumnus ALUMNUS, civil law. A child which one has nursed; a foster child. Dig. 40, 2, 14. . He won the 50 and 100freestyle titles in 2002, while leading Hart to its last Southern Section Div. II championship.

Linn, 21, is one of four Navy swimmers attending the Senior Nationals. He will compete in the 50 and 100 free and 400 free and 400 medley relays.

Andrade, 25, tries to continue her success in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, following strong performances at the recent Janet Evans Invitational and the California/Nevada Summer Sectionals.

Clark, a Granada Hills graduate and senior at Rutgers, will compete in the 200 butterfly today.

The 21-year-old Clark is considered one of the best male swimmers in City Section history and still holds the 200-yard individual medley record (1 minute, 55.18 seconds). Clark won four individual titles in his final three years at Granada Hills.

Jensen, a Valencia resident, attended Chaminade of West Hills before competing at Indiana University Indiana University, main campus at Bloomington; state supported; coeducational; chartered 1820 as a seminary, opened 1824. It became a college in 1828 and a university in 1838. The medical center (run jointly with Purdue Univ. . The 20-year-old was also a member of Southern California's Western Zone team in 1995, 2000 and 2001.

Jensen, who finished among the top six swimmers in six times at the Southern Section finals, will join Clark in the 200 butterfly today. He will also swim in the 400 individual medley Friday and the 200 IM Sunday.

Woodward, an All-American at USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code. , could be a factor in the 50 and 100 free. He is seeded in the top 10 in both events. Following a disappointing performance at the Janet Evans Invitational, the 26-year-old Woodward - a member of the 2004 U.S. Olympic team - is looking to rebound.

Renee Viveros, another former Canyons swimmer who now competes for the Trojan Swim Club, will compete in the 200 backstroke today. The 18-year-old USC sophomore, a graduate of Alemany of Mission Hills, previously competed at the Speedo An earlier scalable font technology from Bitstream Inc., Cambridge, MA (www.bitstream.com).
