SVETLIK TO LEAVE VW BRAND BOARD OF MANAGEMENT

WOLFSBURG, Germany, March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Werner Svetlik (54), a member of the Volkswagen Brand Board of Management since January 1991 with responsibility for Purchasing, is leaving the company at his own request on March 31, 1993.
Svetlik has worked successfully on behalf of VW for the past 36 years, but has taken this decision in order to pave the way for extensive structural changes in the purchasing area. At the company's request, he is to remain available as a management advisor.
Jose Manuel Gutierrez (44) is to join Volkswagen brand management with effect from April 1, 1993, as Manager, Purchasing Division. He will be cooperating closely with Dr. Jose Ignacio Lopez de Arriortua on optimizing the Volkswagen Group's purchasing activities. Gutierrez, who was employed at the Volkswagenwerk in Kassel from 1971 to 1975, joins the company from General Motors in the USA, where his most recent post was that of Worldwide Executive Director, Purchasing.
