It was formed in 1773 by a group of stockbrokers who had been doing business informally in local coffeehouses. , Clara Furse, (pictured) yesterday refused to update shareholders on how talks with other exchanges are progressing. The LSE LSE - Language Sensitive Editor - which is understood to be in talks with American technology market Nasdaq - remained tight-lipped after admitting last week that it was in talks with other parties as part of a "strategic review''. Furse's silence however did not extend to the London Stock Exchange's profitability which last year saw earnings more than double to pounds 75million. Shares in the exchange itself inched up 1p to 465p. |
