SUSPECTS CAPTURED AFTER CHASE, HUNT.

Two car theft suspects who held a neighborhood hostage hostage, person held by another as a guarantee that certain actions or promises will or will not be carried out. The first man was found hiding in the 5400 block of Lindley Avenue a few hours after the pursuit ended, when neighbors spotted him and called police, Brady said.

SWAT team members surrounded an apartment building where the second suspect hid until he surrendered shortly before 3 p.m.

The pursuit began about 9:10 a.m. when LAPD Van Nuys Division officers spotted a green Pontiac in the 15000 block of Roscoe Boulevard that had triggered a Lojak anti-theft device, Brady said.

Police tried to stop the suspects, but the driver instead sped up and led police on a chase that zigzagged through the neighborhood before they stopped at Lindley Avenue near the Ventura Freeway The Ventura Freeway is a freeway in southern California running from Ventura to Pasadena. It is the principal east-west route through Ventura County and in the southern San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County. .

The two men bailed out of the car and ran toward separate apartment buildings in the 5400 block of Lindley Avenue. Surface streets in the area were blocked off while police conducted their investigation.

During the initial search, children at the nearby Temple Judea school were kept in their classrooms by school officials who implemented safety procedures in place for emergencies.
