SUSPECT RETURNS TO FACE CHARGE GLENDALE MAN ACCUSED IN SLAYING OF NEPHEW.

GLENDALE - A 33-year-old fugitive returned voluntarily to the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  from his native Armenia and will be charged today in the shooting death of his 18-year-old nephew, police said Monday.

``We were prepared to walk away from him and then bring all the information back to the United States'' and give it to prosecutors, Glendale police Lt. Jon Perkins said. ``He chose to come back with us.''

Armenian authorities helped Glendale police find Shakhmuradyan, who is the brother of Isagulyan's mother. Shakhmuradyan could have faced extradition extradition (ĕkstrədĭsh`ən), delivery of a person, suspected or convicted of a crime, by the state where he has taken refuge to the state that asserts jurisdiction over him.  proceedings if he had stayed in Armenia.

``He had a little taste of the U.S., and it was quite different in Armenia,'' Perkins said.

Isagulyan was shot in the head Oct. 20 in the parking lot of an auto repair shop in the 500 block of South Glendale Avenue. He died the next day.

The motive for the shooting is unclear, Perkins said. The shop was not owned or operated by either the victim's family Victim's Family was a hardcore punk band formed in 1984 in Santa Rosa, California by bassist Larry Boothroyd and guitarist and vocalist Ralph Spight. Drummer Devon VrMeer completed the trio.  or his uncle.

Shakhmuradyan was being held in Glendale jail in lieu of Instead of; in place of; in substitution of. It does not mean in addition to.  $2.1 million, with his arraignment A criminal proceeding at which the defendant is officially called before a court of competent jurisdiction, informed of the offense charged in the complaint, information, indictment, or other charging document, and asked to enter a plea of guilty, not guilty, or as otherwise permitted  scheduled today on one count of murder.

The victim's family did not cooperate with police in the investigation, Perkins said.
