Authorities said detectives are investigating other rapes and burglaries in the area to determine if Hutchins could be a suspect. ``These profiles will be uploaded to the California and national data bases for future comparisons to any unsolved cases,'' Baca said. Hutchins is suspected of attacking four women, three in Pasadena and one in La Crescenta, between June and November, police said. The victims -- all older, white women -- were home alone. ``He seemed to be familiar with the layout of the homes. Most of the victims were in bed or getting ready to go to bed,'' Glendale Detective Tanhnee Lightfoot said. ``It appears he may have been casing the homes. He was familiar with the victims' routines.'' Descriptions of the rapist given by the women were similar -- an African-American man, 200 pounds and about 6 feet tall. Investigators had no suspect in the rapes until they realized that the description of a prowler reported in September in Glendale matched that of the attacker in La Crescenta. Lightfoot said the suspect left a behind a partial palm print on the window of the La Crescenta home. |
