Byline: Jim Skeen Daily News Staff Writer

Residents are feeling safe at home, support development of an international airport and want the city to get a T.G.I. Friday's T.G.I. In a survey of 337 people conducted during the city's Oct. 10-11 Fall Festival, 80.1 percent said they felt safe in their neighborhoods, and 88.4 percent of the residents favor Palmdale as the site of an international airport.

The survey was not scientific but does offer a quick snapshot of how residents feel, city officials said. To encourage people to fill out the survey, the city held a drawing for a model of a B-2 stealth bomber.

The model was won by Leesa Garrett, whose 7-year-old son, Cole, quickly laid claim to the airplane when it was presented Thursday.

. Ledford said the survey might prompt the city to look at ways to form partnerships with the aerospace companies to encourage job retention and job creation.

``Aerospace is king here in the Antelope Valley,'' Ledford said. ``We have to look at the efforts we're taking and expand those.''

The survey also asked residents what restaurants they want to see come to Palmdale. The leader was T.G.I. Friday's, followed by Claim Jumpers Noun 1. claim jumper - one who illegally occupies property to which another has a legal claim

Real estate brokers have talked with T.G.I. Friday's about coming to Palmdale. City officials said they plan to call T.G.I. Friday's corporate officials to inform them about the survey results.

The survey also included space for residents to write about concerns. Among the issues that came up was the need to take care of dying landscape throughout the city.

Ledford suggested Thursday that the city set up neighborhood meetings in areas that rejected landscape maintenance assessments to try to encourage them to consider revoting on the issue.
