SURFING THE TUBE.

Byline: TOM HOFFARTH

TODAY

The Vikings' Randy Moss apparently has been consulting with the Trail Blazers' Rasheed Wallace on how to deal with officials. Moss should just be content with the fact no ref has thrown a flag toward his eyeball. NFL: Minnesota at Green Bay, Channel 7, 6 p.m.

TUESDAY

On Election Day, the Kings plan a team vote to finally figure out a way to beat the Coyotes. NHL: Phoenix at Kings, Fox Sports Net, 7:30 p.m.

WEDNESDAY

After the Spurs crushed his Pacers on opening night, new Indiana coach Isiah Thomas went into TV-analyst mode and assessed San Antonio's chances for the season. ``That's a good basketball team. Two years ago, they won the NBA championship and they're deeper and they're better.'' And they missed facing the Lakers in the playoffs last season because Tim Duncan wasn't healthy. He is now. NBA: Lakers at San Antonio, Channel 9, TNT, 5 p.m.

THURSDAY

Roy Williams' decision in the offseason to stay in Kansas instead of going to North Carolina probably was swayed by the fact he'd get a shot at crushing the Bruins in the season opener at the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament in Madison Square Garden. OK, so at least the trip to New York had to come into play. NCAA basketball: UCLA vs. Kansas, ESPN2, 3:30 p.m. (UCLA faces either Kentucky or St. John's on Friday).

FRIDAY

Not to imply that it's a slow night in sports. But at the Arete Awards for Courage in Sports, new Clippers coach Alvin Gentry will be honored for accepting the job. Arete Awards for Courage in Sports, ESPN, 5 p.m.; NBA: Atlanta at Clippers, Fox Sports Net 2, 7:30 p.m.

SATURDAY

Whose hair-brained scheme is it to match the guy with the dreadlocks against the guy with the big-kahuna launching pad on his dome? A WWF-like ``Royal Rampage'' is what they've dubbed this matchup of the Englishman who trains in the U.S. and once won an Olympic gold fighting for Canada against the fellow from New Zealand known as ``The Throwin' Samoan.'' Boxing: Lennox Lewis vs. David Tua, pay-per-view ($44.95), 7 p.m.

SUNDAY

Raiders don't play 'til tomorrow. So be content with . . . NFL: N.Y. Jets at Indianapolis, ESPN, 5:35 p.m.
