ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 2001

A record 537,400 net square feet of exhibit space will showcase 853 communications and information technology companies today, June 5 through Thursday, June 7, as SUPERCOMM 2001 opens its doors in Atlanta's Georgia World Congress Center The Georgia World Congress Center or GWCC is the major convention center in Atlanta. It is the fourth-largest convention center in the United States at 1.4 million ft2 (130,000 m2) and hosts more than a million visitors each year.  (GWCC) and Georgia Dome.

SUPERCOMM is the premier annual communications and information technology exhibition and conference.

The floor will feature nearly 300 new companies and approximately 80 international exhibitors. SUPERCOMM exhibitors will introduce new product, service, and strategic partnership announcements, technology demonstrations and much more.

In addition to the three days of cutting edge technology exhibits, SUPERCOMM will feature keynote speeches, plenary panels, educational conferences, the Exploration Theater, the Telecom Investor Forum, the DSL Forum Interoperability Showcase, the Internet Protocol Detail Record Organization (IPDR.org) Interoperability Pavilion and the Optical Internetworking Forum The Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) was organized to facilitate and accelerate the development of next-generation optical internetworking products. The OIF produces Electrical, Tunable Laser, Very Short Reach Hardware Interfaces.  (OIF).

Also featured throughout the week are fee-based conferences presented by the International Engineering Consortium (IEC), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Not to be confused with the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE).

On-site registration for SUPERCOMM is open from 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. today, 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Thursday, and is located in the Registration Hall Main Entrance Concourse of the GWCC and in the Georgia Dome. Registration is also taking place from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. today in the Atlanta Marriott Marquis The Atlanta Marriott Marquis is a Marriott Hotel and the 11th tallest skyscraper in Atlanta, Georgia. Designed by Atlanta architect John Portman, It is probably one of the most well-recognized buildings in the city.  Hotel.
